In case you’re not swimming in Apple gear just yet (wait ’til the kids come…), Griffin Technology has just released a more modest solution to charging “just” a pair of iPhones / iPods or one of each. The two-port PowerDock 2 features a pair of universal docks and a collection of dock inserts to ensure that almost every iPod (and the iPhone) can get a seat at the table. It’s available as we speak for $49.95.

GTAIV boosts UK 360 sales over PS3
May 30, 2008
Having already announced that the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV was the week one sales winner in the UK, Chart-Track has now told Eurogamer that the game also heavily boosted sales of the Xbox 360 console. Since Grand Theft Auto IV’s launch last month, sales of the Xbox 360 are up 18% over the Playstation 3 in the UK. ChartTrack also notes that sales of the Xbox 360 have increased 47% over the month prior to GTAIV’s launch, whereas PS3 sales have seen an increase of only 8%. Furthermore, a full 57% of all duplicates of GTAIV sold in the UK were sold for the Xbox 360, leaving 43% for the Playstation 3.
It’s not all sunshine and roses for the Xbox 360 though, as the Playstation 3 still holds the lead in overall UK sales for 2008 thus far. As it stands, there still remains a 10% gap between the consoles, though it’s worth noting that the gap stood at 20% before the launch of GTAIV.

Update: Ahem, the numbers are for the UK, not all of Europe.
Video: Pioneer’s AVIC-F In-Car Navigators to Take on Microsoft’s Sync
May 30, 2008
Look out Microsoft, Pioneer’s Linc series of in-dash and “on-dash” systems have their sights set on your voice controlled Sync. The first thing you’ll notice is Pioneer’s pixy-dusted UI which easily trumps the Sync’s rather staid presentation. The videos show off Pioneer’s real-time data feeds and natural speech recognition with the help of some smarmy actor-slash-models who’ll probably be serving you lunch this day if you live in LA. But we digress. Videos after the break… which, let’s be honest, is the ideal we can do until the DivX-happy, SD-friendly AVIC-F900BT, F700BT, and F500BT (pictured) are released in June. Free DS Wi-Fi no more at McDonald’s
May 30, 2008
Filed under: Nintendo DS, On the web
Hey, remember when McDonald’s and Nintendo teamed up to offer free Wi-Fi access for Nintendo DS players No Really We thought it was kinda cool. Anyway, they’re not doing it anymore, so just forget it.
The contract between Nintendo and Wayport — the internet provider for McDonald’s in North America — actually came to an end late last year, though the termination of the agreement wasn’t made well known. Well, now you know. DS-playing Mickey D’s lovers can still get their fast food game on using a laptop and Nintendo’s Wi-Fi dongle. Or, you know, not.

Carpet keyboard gives your feet a non-QWERTY workout
May 30, 2008
We’ll spare you our feelings on non-QWERTY layouts, but one thing’s for sure — Maurin Donneaud’s Carpet ‘board would certainly stretch the mind and leg muscles if used for any length of time. It isn’t the first fabric keyboard to grace the phalanges of eager typists, but this DIY concoction is definitely the largest we’ve seen. McDonald’s no longer offering free WiFi to DS users
May 30, 2008
It’s a crying shame (okay, not really), but the long-standing availability of free WiFi to Nintendo DS users in Mickey D’s is now over. Apparently the contract that enabled the access has expired, and there’s no signs of a renewal happening in the US or Canada. Of course, if you’re incredibly desperate to kick some tires on the web while treating yourself to a supersize medium order of fries and a vanilla cone, you can fetch the Nintendo DS web browser add-on or WiFi USB Connector from the second-hand market and carry on. We, however, see this as a perfect excuse to avoid the temptations that lurk underneath the Golden Arches.
