AT&T Slashes BackBerry Prices, Pope Claims Westside With 2Pac

• Call it BlackBerry Friday. Beginning this day, all AT&T BlackBerrys with a two-year contract will be 50-percent off after a mail-in-rebate. [From: Techland]
• According to a MySpace page where celebrities reveal what’s on their iPods, the Pope likes to get down with some Tupac, specifically the track “Changes.” Can we now anticipate a tattoo Maybe “Papal Life” or “God ain’t mad atcha” [From: The Daily Mail]
• Twitter is unveiling a new, capitalized mobile app that is “built from scratch, using only Twitter APIs.” The new, so-called ‘M’ is designed to function more like the actual Web page, and while it’s ready for Webkit browsers (like the iPhone and Android), the site states it’s still fine-tuning a version for BlackBerrys. • iPhone owners living wherever parking is scarce now have two app options to help find those elusive, and highly coveted, primo parking spots. With Twitter’s new upgraded mobile app, those successful spot hunters can also immediately, and more effectively, share their parking conquests with the world. [From: TUAW]
• Microsoft’s Bing search engine suffered an outage yesterday, as a “configuration change” temporarily disabled the site. Some might claim this will thwart Bing’s efforts to compete with Google, which is definitely no stranger to outages, but Microsoft did have the problem fixed within 30 minutes. [From: BBC]
• The aging social networking site Friendster predates most of today’s other, more well-known choices, like MySpace and Facebook, but the site still claims to have a whopping 100 million members. Approximately half of those folks live in Asia, so it’s only fitting that an Asian firm will reportedly be purchasing the site for at least $100 million. [From: Reuters]
• The iPhone might be huge in the States, but it’s having serious trouble making headway in certain foreign markets. During the few weeks that it has been available, China Unicom has managed to sell just five models through a major on the internet store. [From: PC World]
