Palm Profits Dip Even Further
November 14, 2008

While Palm might be enjoying quite a bit of success with their Palm Centro, that success on its own hasn’t been enough to halt the seemingly downward spiral that Palm is in. Palm has reportedly lost $41.9 million this quarter, compared to the $0.8 million loss from the same period a year ago. Palm has attributed half of that loss to increasing stock prices, as well as related compensation and securities, with the other half due to performance-related problems. While it looks like Palm will be depending heavily on the (supposedly) upcoming Linux-based PalmOS, which is supposed to be released on 2009, the launch of a new PalmOS might not be enough to halt their downhill slide.

Employee Sends 12,000 Text Messages
November 13, 2008

Apparently the Italian Supreme Court has ruled against Telecom Italia’s attempt to fire an employee who sent a whopping 12,000 private text messages on his work phone. The mountain of text messages ran more than $2,000 in terms of charges for his work phone between January and October of 2000. The court mentioned that Telecom Italia had previously penalized other employees for similar offenses with less extreme measures, and that employees must be treated in the same way.
Samsung Saga On Verizon
November 12, 2008

Verizon will be gearing up to launch its Samsung Saga this Friday, though the in-store date is December 1st, about two weeks away. The bad news is that it’ll only be available on a direct fulfillment basis at the moment, and the full retail availability will be announced later. If that’s any indication to go by, it probably means that Verizon isn’t anticipating an overwhelming demand for this phone. The Samsung Saga should set you back $199.99 on a 2-year contract after a $70 mail-in rebate.
